For most, Christmas is a season full of joy. For the thousands of animals that are abandoned by their owners over the festive period each year, life could not be more miserable.
Animals are, unfortunately, mistreated all year round, but Christmas and New Year are when the highest number of animals are abandoned.
It is a sad fact that so many animals are abandoned at a time that is supposed to be all about love and happiness. Whilst most pets will enjoy a Christmas with loving families, a minority of pet-owners will condemn their animals to a festive season of misery
